Consumer Sentiment Index

The Consumer Sentiment Index from the University of Michigan addresses the expectations and concerns of 500 consumers.  Consumer Sentiment correlates with Consumer Spending.  The better consumer’s outlook, the more money they spend, the more stimulated the economy becomes.  Consumer Sentiment has a MODEST impact on mortgage rates.  The Consumer Sentiment Preliminary numbers are released 9:00 [central] the second Friday of every month and the Final Consumer Sentiment info is set for the fourth Friday at 9:00 [central].
